The Wanda Alston Foundation is looking for a visionary Executive Director to lead our organization with strategic direction, community engagement, and operational excellence. You play a pivotal role as the chief executive, this is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact, working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and external partners to further our mission. This role also involves overseeing staff, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. This role is 100% on-site, due to the nature of the role and responsibilities we need you to be in the office each day.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy: Drive the development and execution of our strategic plan, working in partnership with the Board of Directors to shape the future of The Wanda Alston Foundation.
- Team Management: Provide leadership and support to staff, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with our values. Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture that aligns with our values and mission.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the organization’s budget, ensure sustainable financial health, and propose strategies to diversify revenue streams. Oversee financial reporting and audits and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Program Development: Oversee the implementation and evaluation of programs, ensuring they meet community needs and align with our mission. Lead efforts to assess and improve program quality, impact, and sustainability and ensure programs are marketed effectively and accessible to the target population.
- Fundraising & Development: Lead efforts to secure funding through grant writing, donor cultivation, and strategic partnerships to support and grow our programs. Identify funding opportunities, research potential funders, and create proposals that align with our strategic priorities. Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Community Engagement & Advocacy: Represent the organization within the community, building relationships with stakeholders, advocating for LGBTQIA2S+ rights, and promoting public awareness.
- Governance: Serve as the primary liaison between the Board and staff, ensuring transparent communication and effective collaboration.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in nonprofit management, public administration, social work, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience, ideally within a nonprofit or LGBTQIA2S+ advocacy organization.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting, and fundraising experience.
- Deep knowledge of LGBTQIA2S+ issues, with an understanding of intersectional challenges related to gender, race, and class.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and a strong understanding of nonprofit governance.
- Proven ability to secure grants, corporate sponsorships and individual donations.
- Experience in developing fundraising campaigns and building relationships with donors.
- Strong public speaking and media relations skills to represent the organization in public forums.
- Experience with advocacy efforts and knowledge of policies affecting LGBTQIA2S+ communities
- A deep personal commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, especially within marginalized communities.
